A Blessed Hope

But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior. He will take our weak mortal bodies and change them into glorious bodies like his own, using the same power with which he will bring everything under his control.
Philippians 3:20-21 (New Living Translation)

In our previous study we speculated on how some of us feel that having just one life, we should try to achieve the most out of it.
However, have we ever considered our other segment of life which holds much more importance, i.e our Spiritual Life? On hearing it for the first time, many of us would consider it a blasphemy.

There are two great communities in the entire universe: that of

  • The world being governed by worldly laws and practices (for worldly intentions) and

  • The heaven being governed by heavenly laws (for heavenly intentions). The Word tells us that we have been given an assurance of the latter having been deemed as citizens of Heaven, being governed by heavenly laws whilst being encouraged to see, feel and hear through our faith. For the Word says, 'Its our FAITH that can save us.'

Our human brain inculcates only the facts which can be seen, felt or heard. We don't believe in anything that cannot be seen, felt or heard. We have to open our spiritual eyes to sense beyond the available earthly dimensions. The key to solving this mystery is the ‘Extent of our Faith’.
We have been given our spiritual residence as is given in the Word.

Before we even formed our own identity on earth, we got blessed

with a Heavenly commune, the foremost dwelling of our Lord. To retain this blessing, we have been told to use our spiritual sense of faith and not just our earthly sense of proof which would otherwise cut-off our heavenly commune consequently leading us nowhere.

Every Christian amongst us believes that our Lord Jesus Christ will descend from Heaven and awaits for the same. Other people may ignore this fact but a Christian expects it with full confidence. His Saviour has been taken away from the world and seated in Heaven. It tests an expression of his faith in believing that He would come again and take the believer with Him to the ‘Promised Land’ full of His glory.

This promise given to us by our Saviour leads us into:

1.   Preparing ourselves for His second coming and anxiously awaiting for the same.
2.  Not living an earthly life, living above it and eagerly waiting to see our Lord appear amongst us again.
3.  Giving little importance to Earthly things and desires and giving more concern to heavenly realms.
The fact that he will come is identified with all our hopes. It provides a ground to cheer us in trial; to guard us in temptation; to make us dead to the world; to lead us to keep the eye turned toward heaven.
Message for the week:

We have been blessed with a heavenly citizenship, a holy commune in the midst of our Heavenly Father. To retain this blessing we have to follow up our spiritual senses of faith and grace as we await our Saviour Jesus Christ descending from the clouds to gather his chosen  and take them to the Promised Land.
Recite this short prayer with me, "Lord, you pour out your blessings over us in a vast extent giving us a chance of Heavenly Aboard while we are still sinners. I realize myself as a sinner and ask for forgiveness. Thank you for granting me a second chance in seeking your kingdom. Help me in sanctifying myself so that I may receive you when You descend from above the clouds. In Jesus’ name I pray.” Amen
God bless you
